Hey Everyone,
I'm unsure of what i did but i was just looking around my machine and when i quit i found there to be a American flag between my volume and battery life and when i click it it gives me options to open"Character Palette" and to "Open International". I guess its not a big deal but i'd like to get it off there if possible, thanks!

just go to the "International" pane in System Preferences, choose the "Input" tab, an uncheck "Show input menu in menu bar". (you may also need to make sure that only one keyboard layout it checked in the list)

If you use the "special characters" palette it automatically turns on this menu extra, which is VERY annoying!

If anyone ever figures out how to hack the picture of that sad, out-of-place little flag icon into something else, btw, please let me know.

That would probably the kcns 0 resource in '/System/Library/Keyboard Layouts/Roman.bundle/Contents/Resources/Roman.rsrc', but I can't tell you an editor for it at the moment.
