I have tried choosing a Jaguar disk in System Prefs. as the start up, no luck. I have tried launching the "Install Mac OS X" app in the Jaguar CD and I have tried restarting and holding down the C-Key...still no luck. It always ends up booting into 10.3.

Can someone PLEASE help me.

Thanks in Advance,
macro.

Your cry for help is obvious..you can't install an earlier OS on a machine that has the latest system.

That is incorrect. I just installed Jaguar on my Al 15 a few days ago on a separate partition from Panther, and I could have just as easily replaced Pather with Jaguar if I'd elected to.

I did however have a similar problem with 2 computers. My retail Jag CDs would not boot on the PB or on my FP (Superdrive) iMac. Orriginally with the iMac I thought there was something wrong with the logic board (the disk boots on other panther systems) but having the same problem with the PB makes me wonder if there is a bug or some kind of block on it.

For the PB I used my Software Restore DVD and that worked to install Jaguar. I reccomend that approach if you have a Jaguar restore disk.

Also try another copy of the disk if you can find one.

My Retail Jag CD will not boot on my newest/Superdrive systems that have Panther installed. So I can't install from that CD on any partition.

Boots fine on a iMac DV 400, B&W G3, heck I even got Jag installed on my PowerBase 180 with a little tinkering ( and a G3 card).

well the G5 and the 12in Powerbook are probably too new to boot off a Jaguar (10.2.0) disc.

The original G5s came with a special version of Jaguar installed, not sure about the 12inchers.

you should have Jag restore disks for the G5 and powerbook. I'd try those.

I'm almost positive you can boot from the Jaguar install disc and then choose to intall the 10.2 over 10.3 as long as you choose to format the disc as one of the Advanced Options. Should work.

But about booting from the 10.3 CD. I've noticed that problem on some systems, I think it was on a Mirrored Drive Door machine... The machine would not boot from the 10.2 retail CD, it only wanted to boot from the DVD that came with it.

Yuck.
