You download an image or whatever on your desktop. Whenever the download is complete and then desktop folder pops out in front of your screen. How do I stop that?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

You mean when you save an image in Safari?
Open the preferences, click the General tab at the top, and see if you have it set to open files upon download completion.
(If this isn't the answer to your question, please be more specific.)

Doesn't happen to me.

Which browser are you using, and how are you downloading the image?
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

That can happen when doing filetransfer with iChat, and I don't think there is a way to disable it.
