A friends iMac (Ruby) had been upgraded to 10.3 and now, every several hours, it says it needs to restart. Is this a RAM issue, Poor memory management, Hard Drive going, or software setting?? Never happens with the same app twice. Sometimes while the iMac sits idle?

What kind of message pops up and says that? Can you get a screen picture of the actual message?

That is a kernel panic. Sounds like bad RAM or other defective hardware.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.
