I dont know if this is happening to just me, or other ppl had this happen too. I have jaguar on my ibook 600mhz, and OS X is turning every icon i click on, a folder. its not really a folder but its making all the icons have that pic of the folder. I cant move my icons anymore, or remove anything from the dock. what is happening? shud i reinstall? i dont want to, but if there is a way to get around that, tell me. thx

Thanks, Pat - that's interesting. (tho weird )
Tell me, though, must one use the terminal? Or could this be done by TRASHing those files in the finder (assuming one has admin privileges)? and then emptying trash / restarting Finder?

Well, I did try that command thing in terminal, that simply made ALL my icons turn into folders. So now absolutely all my icons have have been effected. Even when I insert CD's, it reads those as folders. I think pherhaps an important chunk of info from the system has been corrupt? Im getting rrreeally aggravated with all this, so im going to reinstall. Any last suggestions?

Are you running 10.2.0 or something later? If I remember correctly, this was a known bug with early releases of Jaguar.
Also, have you tried restarting your computer? Also, do you have this problem when logged in as a different user?
