I just bought an HP 5510 all-in-one printer, and I'm having a bad problem with the printing dialog for it.

Each time I go to File->Print... in any application, even though the Preset is set as a black and white preset. As in the following:

This is when the print sheet first comes up.

However, if I choose the "HP greyscale fast" preset again, then it goes to what it should be:

Any way to have the second image's settings - specifically, fast and greyscale - be the default that always pops up when I select File->Print... ?

Thanks in advance,
Karl

Can anybody help me out? Months later I'm still having the same problem.

In addition, I have a problem with the printer's speed. I thought it was just a new product thing, but the printer goes incredibly slow. The first page to print off the HP 5510 takes about a minute and a half after clicking the "Print" button - it just sits there and does nothing for about 40 seconds, and then after that it prints, even on the "Fast Normal" mode, at a rate of about 30 seconds per page. The printer spends a lot of time just waiting - not doing anything.

Could it be my USB 1.1 connection? I don't think so, because it worked just fine with my Epson USB 740i.

I really need some help - this is really getting annoying.
