I have a 1GhZ PowerBook running 10.3.2 with 1 GB RAM.

I have two user accounts set up on the computer. When I switch from the secondary user (my wife's account) to mine (admin), the system freezes and the only thing I can do is hold down the power button to shut down the PowerBook.

How do I figure out what is causing the freeze? And if I do discover it's a certain login app, is there any way to fix it without simply removing it from being launched upon login?

Or, is there something else that I just don't know about.

Check:
/Applications/Utilities/Console

...and see if the logs contain any info.

On both accounts turn off (or temporarily move from their folders) all pref panes and startup items. Turn off all login items. Repair permissions. Reboot. If the problem has disappeared, add back your extras one at a time, rebooting after each. You will be able to isolate which one was poorly developed and causing the problem.
