I'm using 10.3.2 with Safari 1.1.1 and QuickTime Pro 6.5. When I try to open a QT movie (like trailers on the Apple site) in Safari I only get a broken QT logo. When I try to open it in QT directly with "File --> Open URL in New Player..." I get an error message: "Couldn't open the file ... because an unknown error occurred. The number of the error is: 2."
I re-installed QT, Shockwave and Flash, changed the "Transport Setup" for QT in System Preferences - nothing helped. I thought of network problems, but the movies play well on my Windows system on the same network.
Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Go to Safari's Help menu and see if the Quicktime plugin is installed.

I can't view any QT content (not movie trailers, not Stevenotes) from my work box because of the company firewall, and I may be remembering wrong but I think I could view it through IE on my Win2K box before I switched.
I don't know anything about networking or firewalls, so I can't offer you any advice, but I can tell you you're not alone.

In case you still haven't sorted this, you may need to trash your internetconfig plist. Quicktime occassionally dies on me and this always resovles it.
