I have a couple of games (myst/riven) that I'd like to run on my Panther system. Is this possible. I know I don't have OS9 installed, but I thought that classic emulation allowed you to run these.

Having never needed this before, I've no idea how to go about doing it. Do I have to install a whole OS9 system on my computer (Tibook 1Ghz).

Thanks,

J.

Yes--you install OS9, which is then used to boot up Classic within OSX.

Classic is not really an emulator, because it doesn't pretend to be another type of hardware. It just lets two operating systems run at the same time on the same hardware.

This is why you need OS9 to run Classic apps. Classic doesn't pretend to be OS9; it runs a real OS9. It does a decent job of it too, most of the time.

To be honest, though, I'm not sure how well Myst and Riven run in OS9. Myst probably runs fine, but Riven might not.

I've had both run just fine - but both seem to have a problem attempting to save a game.

So feel free to try it, but before you get too invested make sure you can save your game.
