I knew Panther has a print option under "Paper Handling" to print just the odd or just the even pages in a document. But I hadn't tried it until last night.

And it doesn't work! I tried several apps in several user accounts (all on one machine) but each time I tried it, it printed every single page.

Will someone else please try this and report back. You don't have to use paper, just print the odd pages to PDF as an experiment.

Thanks,
Chris

I just tried it with TextEdit and although it didn't work during the preview, it worked fine when printed.

I believe the preview feature in Jaguar also didn't show the "pages per sheet" option as well.

Thanks. That's interesting. But what good is print preview if it doesn't behave like the printer?

Actually, I just found the answer tonight. It was posted at discussions.info.apple.com just now.

Here it is:

From Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.print PreviewPageSet YES

You have to quit and re-launch any running application before it pays attention to this setting.

To turn this back to the way it worked before:
defaults write com.apple.print PreviewPageSet NO

I have to think it was an Apple oversight that left this feature turned off by default. But after turning it on as instructed, everything works fine.
