I am connected to my pc that has a 40gig movie file I need to copy to my mac. When I drag the movie from it's share to either the desktop or to my desktop icon in finder it will put the icon on the desktop for a second and then just remove it. Nothing gets copied or moved. Is there a size limit on what I can copy?

40 gig? Wow. Maybe your computer is just thinking... a lot? How long did you wait for the file to copy?

try making a copy of it on the PC and renaming it, then see if you can copy that to the mac. Also try copying some smaller files to the mac, and while useing the mac check the ownership of the files. I've never networked with a PC, but those are the first things I'd try.

Do it the other way around, and use ftp.

Enable ftp on the Mac (System Prefs->Sharing->FTP access)
then go on the PC, and connect to the Mac by entering :

ftp://your_login_on_mac@ip_address_of_mac

enter your password when prompted, and drag the file in your Movies folder to copy it.

Don't use samba/windows file sharing on Panther, it completely broken (at least up to 10.3.2)
