When my Al 17 boots up I get a flashing world symbol (a globe in a square button - looks very OS9) then I get a missing hard drive symbol, then eventually it boots.

I am spending a lot of time traveling at the moment, so only rarely get time on the internet - the little research I've been able to do has turned up nothing on boot up symbols - is it some sort of network thing?

TIA
I have Mac

when you've finished starting up and gotten logged in, open your startup disk pref pane and re-select your os x install....looks like it has lost its setting and is trying to net-boot before trying the local disk.
