Pretty bizarre. How does this happen? Immediately after you press command-P or after you press Print from the print dialog?

I'd try the usual things:

Reboot.

ZAP the PRAM.

Repair permissions.

Check the directory of the hard drive.

If all else fails, reinstall OS X.

Before reinstalling OS X, I'd try deleting the LaunchServices cache, which consists of all the files in /Library/Caches and ~/Library/Caches that have 'launchservices' in their names.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
