I have a movie I saved out of iMovie a few years back. It's saved at some small web friendly size like 320x???, it's small...

When I bring it into iMovie, it scales it up to fill the "screen" if you will. Needless to say it looks like total crap. My question is, can iMove play the QT clip at its' real size?

I actually also have the same problem with jpg's that I bring in. Perhaps the solution is the same or similar?

I'm guessing FCP can do this, but I cannot figure out how to do it in iMovie.

Thx in advance.

Scaling up will always look bad, movie or still image.

Compounding the problem is that you probably compressed it out of iMovie using Sorenson or whatever. Upsizing compressed images looks bad.

Take a .jpg and zoom-in in Photoshop. See the wrinkles?

I have never used iMovie, but can you make the "document" size match the original movie?

Also, video programs will use low res to preview and play back video, but it may look better when rendered out.

When you export the movie, choose "Expert Settings..." for Format. Then, click "Options..." and finally, "Size...".

This will allow you to export in whatever size you prefer.
