A couple of suggestions. One is to precede the application name with /sw/bin. For instance /sw/bin/xeyes. If that works then you need to check your $path to see is /sw/bin is included in it. Type echo $PATH at the prompt in Terminal or an xterm window.
What version of OS X are your using? That will determine what rc (runcom) file needs to be edited if /sw/bin is not in your path. Let us know and we can help fix it.

i've tried, and it worked before. i am running 10.3.1. when i try to run xscrabble, it get:
$ /sw/bin/xscrabble
Couldn't find resource file XScrabble.
Nicholas-Christens-Computer:~ nicholaschristen$
my PATH returns this when i run echo $PATH:
/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/Users/nicholaschristen:/usr/X11R6/bin
and i have tried to rewrite my path once before, and it looked like it worked. . .now it doesn't. i have tried re-installing through fink/fink commander and still comes up with the resource file missing notice as stated above. any idea? or could it just be one of those fun things that just exists? i AM able to run xmahjongg, both through typing in /sw/bin/xmahjongg and through the application menu.
thanks!!
