I really like MacOS X's Computer Name screensaver, but I don't want it to display the computer's name... just the big silverish Apple lgoo. The computer its running on is a server and has an obnoxious name & is kind of distracting from an otherwise nice screen saver.
Does anyone know where I can either find the image resource for this screen saver or how to disable the name feature??
I've done an HD search with no success. Also doesn't seen to be in /library or in /system/library.

Anyone know how to replace the computer's (network) name with a fixed string of text?

Can't you just name the computer what you want it to be?

The "Computer Name" screen saver displays the Mac's network name. However, this Mac's network name is a fairly meaningless abbreviation (since it's on a large medical campus-wide network). I'd like the screen saver to display something of my choosing other than the computer's network name.
A very minor detail, I know. But I just don't want to see a nice looking Apple logo and "CVCTLAB-PRIVSERV-MBS" as the name underneath.

Not sure if that is possible, as the saver is programmed to look in that specific location for the information/text to be displayed....maybe some wity hacker can help...

It'd be easier to just hack up another screensaver to just display the logo.

That was pretty clicking on the link and bringing up the appropriate window on my machine!
Now lets see if you can find that blue globe icon (which is part of the iDisk icon)

I know where the iDisk icon is...is that what you want? Or just the blue globe? They are only one file, not separate...
Better yet, head here and just download what you want:
