Can't copy PDf files from SMB server?

	Sorry if this has been addressed--the search engine is down again. Running 10.3.2 and connecting to a shared folder on a WinXP PC. I'm trying to copy a PDF file (tried with various PDFs) over to my local disk, and can't do it...the file appears briefly in the Finder but then vanishes. I've tried this with drag and drop, as well as copying/pasting in the Finder. Other files copy just fine, except for PDFs. Any ideas? I didn't have this problem in 10.2.8 as far as I remember.
