I don't think the update has anything to do with your problem, how could it, it's an airport and security update...
I've had a problem with my dual G5 since I installed the security update. Twice while sleeping, the fans fans have come on and started to work very loudly and quickly. They would start and the only thing I could do with my machine was power it down. It would not wake from sleep.
