Does anyone remember the 10.2 build 6C98 startup image? I'm trying to extract it using the directions from resexcellence, but the hex addresses are not the same as the official 10.2 release (or builds after 6C98). I have searched the forums, but am unable to find any references to the addresses in BootX that contain the image. Does anyone recall where they are located?

Is the source code available to the version of BootX that came with that build? Because if so, it would be really easy to find the images in it.

CharlesS, the images in BootX is in hex. One needs to know where the hex for the image is located. It's not the same location as for the later builds. If I knew how They discovered the hex in the later builds, it might aid in finding the hex in the 6C98 build.

The images in BootX are a constant byte array in the source code. If you have the source to BootX, which is part of the Darwin source, you can easily find the images. I suspect that they discovered the hex in the later builds like this:

1. Download the source

2. Find the image in the source

3. Search for the image they've already found in the BootX binary

4. Tell everyone else where it's located so that people can change it without downloading the source

Unfortunately, I don't see a version of Darwin corresponding with the pre-release versions of 10.2 on Apple's site.

Thanks zachs. But the image link didn't seem to work unfortunately. Neither does MacBoot in its current state work with 10.3.2 at the moment, or so it said. (Claims to work with 10.3.0 though) Oh well.

Works fine. Had to convert the .raw image to a tiff though.
