Has anyone used the TCP/IP over FireWire capabilities in Panther to connect to a Windows XP box successfully? I believe I read that the developer's preview of the technology last year wasn't compatible, but I have no idea what might have changed with the Panther release.

(I'm about to buy a PowerBook and want to know my connectivity options with some of my other boxes -- not having this won't kill the deal, by any means, but it would still be nice to have.)

Thanks in advance.

I actually found IP over FireWire to be slower than 100Mbit ethernet with the beta. If you want really fast connectivity the gigabit ethernet with a crossover cable will do just that

works like a charm for me between two macs running panther - I use it for fast transfers between my 100meg wired g4 desktop and my airport-connected 12".. I had always heard that XP had more stable support for IP over firewire than the osx IP/firewire beta (which I also used), so I'd imagine it works just fine.
