Have had several 1x DVD-RWs that I burn for data backup with no problems at all.

Recently got a 2x so I made sure the iMac does not need the upgrade for faster burning which it does not (17"). Burns OK but gives the following error while verifying:

Error code - 2147352542

Anyone know what is going on? The files burned work OK.

I did try to set the burn speed to 1x but the only option I have is Max.

thought appreciated.........Rich

I did a search on Google for the error code and apparently this can happen on the cheaper media.

I'm guessing your burning a near full disk?

Here is a page on MacNN describing the issue:

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I am using Verbatium DVD-RW and I have used this media often with no problems. The one in question is newer that the others and is the only 2X one. I have used it 3 times in the past without problems.

Burning 3.8GB of MP3 and .MPG files for backups.

I sometimes get a cruddy disc every now and then (and I do a lot of burning) and I have had the worst experiences with -RW media so I can't really say anything about them.

I think for A03/A04 burners (what your computer most likely has) are limited to burning DVD-RW's at 1x so that might explain the only option.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
