One of my colleagues' computer has this problem. With the "Automatically hide and show the Dock" option checked in the Dock preference pane in Panther his dock will no longer appear when the curser is moved to the bottom of the screen.

After logging in as the admin user where I didn't see this, I thought I was on the right track and started to mess with his Library folder and contents therein. Even with the Library folder wiped out and a new one being automatically created by the operating system the issue was still there.

An then, strangely, once I logged into the admin user again, I had the problem there, too.

Has anyone seen this and has, God willing, a solution for this?

try something simple first - turn off the "hide dock" feature....does the dock work fine? then turn on the show/hide again....problem gone? all users or just one?

after that, perhaps extract dock.app from the install cd with Pacifist (it goes in system/libray/core services/) and replace the copy you are running.

I tried that, without luck. -- Dominik
