Were people having major issues with QuickTime 6.5? Why did Apple bother to come up with a way to revert back to 6.4?

I think Jag users were having issues with it...however, Apple isn't saying a word as to why it's needed...

Ah. I see. For those 10.2 users. (BTW - I already gave that link in my original post )

People with software that uses Quicktime for back-end functions (FCP, et al.) can have problems when running 6.5. They should know not to upgrade Quicktime until it's certified for their software, but for those that don't, this is how to revert.

I was one of the folks who had problems with Quicktime 6.5. I had been running Jag 10.2.8 successfully, but as soon as I installed QT6.5, I was unable to drag & drop (and by way of extension, backup anything on my hard drive!). A few of my applications decided to die, and as a result, my copy of Jag was unusable. I remedied the situation by installing Panther, but of course had to do a clean install.

When I upgraded to QT 6.5 (on a Panther 10.3.2 G5), I lost the ability to play more than 30 seconds of the movie files that some digital cameras can take. These are .AVI files and they always played fine on QT 6.4 so I am looking forward to this downgrade.

Anyone know if the functionality of QT 6.5 is helpful in the new iLife or Final Cut Express apps?
