I have two internal hard drives, A & B.

On drive A, I can repair permissions on both drive A and B.
But on drive B, I can only repair permissions on drive B (when I select/highlight drive A, the Repair Permissions are greyed out).

Short of reinstalling is there an easy fix?

Many thanks!

You're only supposed to be able to repair permissions of a drive with Mac OS X installed. Disk Utility in 10.3 allows you to repair permissions of any mounted disk with OS X installed; older versions of Mac OS X only allow you to repair permissions on the current startup disk (except from the CD, AFAIK).

Tooki, Thanks for the reply and words of wisdom. It is appreciated. Since drive B was made/is a (CarbonCopy Cloner) clone of drive A, I now understand it...I think (hope).

Just in case anyone is curious as to how or if this matter was finally resolved:

When doing a Get Info on the volume that was grayed out, in the lower left corner is a box that says "Ignore Ownership." I had that enabled. Soon as I unchecked it all was put to right.
