I'm not sure what I did to cause this (if anything), but as of a few days ago, iChat would let me sign on but not send any IMs. If I double-clicked somebody's name to open a new chat window, iChat would quit (bringing up the Crash Report window). I've been using the standard AIM client since then.

Today, I tried to open my Address Book for the first time since the above happened (not sure these two things are related), and it'll open the window with the list of names, but goes into rainbow ball mode after that -- can't click on anything, and I have to Force Quit.

I thought I might try downloading my iSync'd addresses from .Mac, just in case that worked for some reason. Well, iSync synced but after the "cleaning up" stage, it also quit and brought up the Crash Report window.

Any ideas? I just reformatted a month ago, so I'd really rather not have to do it again. This is the first such problems I've had with this PowerBook (before the last reformat, Classic was the one acting up).

PowerBook G4 1 GHz
15.2" active matrix TFT
512 MB SDRAM
64 MB Video RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000
SuperDrive
Mac OS X 10.3.2
2 USB ports, 1 FireWire
56k modem
Gigabit Ethernet
Airport

Thanks!

In case this helps anyone, here's a screen shot of the error I get -- iChat 2.1 beta still gives me an error, but the message is much more detailed.

Thanks.

I have a similar problem. I start iChat and it quits immediately. This too started a few days ago, just now I downloaded the new iChat beta hoping it would help but it did not.

I also installed the new Bluetooth software and my mouse won't work either
