Heyas, I've got a new toy, an iMac 500 CD running 10.1. Problem is, all's not well.

When I first set it up, software update pointed out a security update, so I downloaded. Problem is that now I can't seem to update the OS, the updater tells me to get the installer update, but the installer update shows my drives shaded and non-updatable.

Now what do I do?

On a seperate note, anyone know of a good desktop picture rotator? The one from my old Mac is an AppleScript, will that work under OS X? Also, I need an image changer screen saver and a better picture viewer since image files are showing up far too small(a 1024 X 768 image shows up as a tiny thumbnail in the corner).

Thanks all,
Fluxxx

Agreed, but right now, the money ain't here for that. In a month maybe, but right now I need to sort things out so I can update to 10.1.5 that way at least I can get most of my programs running(and just how do you install Windows Media Player?).

Authenticated? What's that?

I came here from OS 9 via Win XP, so there's a bit of a learning curve(and nope, didn't read the manual, Mac's never needed that before).
