We would love to be able to 'chat' with Windows users here at work, but I can't find a Rendezvous chat client for them (W2K). Enabling 'outside' (AIM) chat ability is not an option. Any ideas? Is there anyway to isolate their chat ability to only our private network?
Thanks to anyone who has ideas on this!

Nobody knows what protocol iChat uses for its Rendezvous stuff. Without that knowledge, no one can write any clients.

That since various hardware was recognized through rendezvous discovery that the protocol was known. It's really too bad that iChat won't play that way. Our Mac users have really taken to it, but without Windows support it won't become a 'corporately' accepted app. Most companies I know will NOT allow 'public' chat at the work place.

I know the protocol.
I've implemented it for Proteus and I'm working on a library that will be usable for other Mac OS X IM clients (such as Adium and Fire). All that's needed for a Windows implementation is an mDNS Responder that the program can use, and someone to port the code (currently it is in Objective-C, so there will need to be a fair number of changes).

Having not poked around at this, how does iTunes add Rendezvous to Windows? Does it add it as something everyone can get at, or is it integrated only into iTunes?
And good to hear more work going into Proteus. I have been tempted to switch away after the not so joyous migration for 3.0, but it seems development is picking up again
