Hi everyone,

Need some XServe assistance if possible. I have an XServe (G4) with four drives comprising two striped (1) Raids. One RAID is 60GB and one is 120GB.

The boot volume (the 60GB) is running OS X 10.2 Server (10.2.8).

I'm having problems with writing speeds to this server, not with reading from the server, so I'm thinking about rebuilding the raids. No matter what I do (boot to 10.2 Server disk, etc.) the option to rebuild the RAID is greyed out. What gives? How do I do this?

I'm haven't done this before, so you can take this with a grain of salt, but I was under the impression that rebuild only applied to mirrored raids when one of the volumes has been hosed.

What do you mean by write to the server? Over the network via AFP? If yes, it is probably caused by the 12/19 Security patch. This is a well-known issue. The 1/26 Security patch fixes the issue.

I have several xServes, and I'm pretty sure that the rebuild option isn't available until your RAID is broken. You can't rebuild a RAID that is working fine with Apple's software solution.
