I've got a new machine (G5 dualie! Whee!) that I want to install GQ (LDAP client) on. I did it previously via Fink, but that was on another machine with Jaguar. GQ currently sits in the 10.2 unstable/crypto branch, and I can't directly access CVS through my firewall. Any ideas on how I can get and install the package, or at least "trick" Fink into pulling packages from this branch?

how about rsync?

BTW, your distribution is set in /sw/etc/fink.conf

If the package compiles, you are probably fine.

I wouldn't recommend using packages from the 10.2 tree directly on 10.3. Mail the package maintainer of GQ and ask him why the package is not yet moved.

But looking at the Fink package database it seems that GQ is now moved to 10.3 (even in stable). So try to do a

fink selfupdate-rsync

again and then 'sudo apt-get install gq'. If you have further questions please ask on the fink-user mailing list.

Hope that helps, Chris.

PS: If you ever wanted to get a single file from the fink CVS repository you can always use the web cvs interaface

Yeah, it's weird, rsync won't pick up gq because it doesn't store the crypto branch.

The web CVS interface worked like a charm, though- thanks!

Are you sure you have the fink crypto tree enabled? Please check both /sw/etc/apt/sources.list and /sw/etc/fink.conf files. If you have more problems please ask on the fink-user mailing list. (So that other might profit too...)

Good.
