freezes? I think this is turning into an ambiguous term. If your system freezes and your mouse doesn't move any more (assuming good USB, keyboard, mouse, etc...), you need a new processor/logic board. You have a definite hardware problem.
Running this in a school system, I hope you have access to Apple Certified Techs. Run Mac Test Pro or Apple Service Diagnostics on the machines (whichever applies to the machine... MTP for OS 9 bootable machines, ASD for non OS 9 bootable machines).
If you mean that the window server stops responding, check for corrupt preference files or a corrupt OS install. The easiest way to verify software is to Target Disk Mode a working machine and boot the suspect machine from the other one. If you still have the problem, you have bad hardware. If the problem goes away, the problem is somewhere in the internal IDE chain (IDE bus, Hard Drive, Software).
If what you mean by "manag environment" is that you are having problems on all the machines in a lab and they are netbooted off of a server, then I would create a new netboot image off of a fresh install. Also, make sure you turn journaling ON on the server.
