Guys,

I just hooked myself up with my own comcast account. A comcast installer came by and installed the comcast dsl modem and he gave me a Comcast CD. He said install it and get connected..

I wasn't sure if I should so, I installed cd and it is not the same.. Everytime when I restart my Powerbook (10.3.2) and ".ComcastBoot" always boot everytime before the finder show up.

I tried to get myself hooked up on network-- No luck! HELP!
and
I want to delete the .ComcastBoot off ?? how can I?? the icon on dock looks like Script editor.. how can I?? I've looked on "FIND FILE" .. Nothing is there.

any help would apreciated.

comcast does dsl? aren't they a cable co.?

first off, it sounds like you went with a USB modem. Ditch it and get an ethernet-based modem. No drivers, no crap to install.

as for removing whatever comcast installed, you might have to boot into single user mode and do a bit of rm from the terminal OR hook your powerbook up to another mac via firewire and boot the pb into fw target disk mode, from which point you'd be able to ferret out and remove the comcast-installed files.

since when does comcast give anyone a cd-rom with a mac os x installer? I've never seen that.

Comcast, at least where I live about 1 year ago, uses an installer which should just setup a network profile and connects to their network to register your cable modem with their DHCP server. You have to complete the installer or you will not be able to gain internet access. The only other option is to contact support but they will charge you the full installation fee.

As for the item in the Dock, just control-click it and choose Show in Finder to find the file.
