I'm trying to install MMTK via fink & fink commander ( both latest versions ). I've told it to look in unstable/main etc and it sees MMTK just fine. However, it's bitten me twice with the "install and build xFree86" thing. I've done everything it says on the sites for these programs to remove and reinstall any X11 / xFree86 installations to just start from scratch with the Apple X11, but it still won't let me download/install MMTK without the xFree86 stuff. As I don't particularly want to spend another few hours watching it build a windowing system I'd never use anyway, only to be told that it can't install as the Apple version is already there, can anybody lend a hand? I have the SDK version of X11 etc, and have done everything I could find on the respective websites.

fink install system-xfree86 system-xfree86-dev system-xfree86-shlibs

The Apple X11 installs as placeholders for the xfree86 system - I thought that took care of this?

I just don't want fink trying to install xfree86 along with MMTK. I already have an xfree86 in Apple's X11; I don't want the other one. But I can't seem to get fink to understand this.
