My wife (current college student) is ready to dump Mac and go to windows (i agree) because printing flat out bites. We have bought a new HP printer with 10.3.2 drivers and we still get random can't "connecting to printer" hang-ups all the time. Plain USB connection and nothing fancy. Machine (12inch PB) works great except for crudding printing. Can't trust it when she needs it. Any ideas, be fore we sell out a buy a cheap dell that can print?

Go out and buy a cheap Epson printer. HP inkjets and drivers have just got worse and worse.

Epson stuff has just gotten better and better and I never see problems with their stuff. I do see problems with HP stuff all the time.

Also realize that part of the problem is that Apple is still trying to switch printing technology over to CUPS in Panther and all is not smooth yet. I have two HP Laserjets which worked perfectly in 10.2 but have some problems in Panther. Did your PB come with 10.2 disks? If you have some spare time you might want to try reinstalling 10.2.x and seeing if the problems disappear.

I have not seen any problems with postscript printers. Just set it up with the right PPD and things have worked very nicely.

What kind of problems are you having with the HP Laserjets?

No help to you, but my Epson works perfectly.
Then again, buying another printer is probably cheaper than buying another laptop.

How about printing through virtual pc?
Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion - Steven Weinberg.

I've not any problems with three of the four HP printers that I regularly output to. The fourth, however, is no longer supported by HP—it's a the DesignJet ColorPro GA.

Best of luck.
