I hope this hasn't been asked a million times before. I searched but got an error message every time, and looked through the last couple months of posts, and didn't see exactly what I was looking for. So here goes...

I just upgraded to Panther at work, but still have classic apps I need to use. I'm having trouble getting fonts to work in both systems though. Seems rediculous to have all my fonts active at once. I'm trying to use Fontbook, but it seems to only manage fonts for X, and it's slow. I used an old suitcase 8 for os9 before, but that won't install for some reason now.

Should I upgrade to Suitcase 10? Will that manage fonts for X and classic? Right now I'm just dropping fonts into System Folder/Fonts for classic, but seems rediculous. How about a different font manager? Would that be any better?

Thanks in advance!

I use Suitcase 11 and am very happy with it.

Yes Suitcase 11 will manage fonts for Classic too.

Be sure to remove all your fonts from all the libraries except for the one in the System.

Also remove all the fonts from the System Folder's fonts folder except for Charcoal, Geneva and Monaco.

My experience:

Quark (4.1) + Suitcase 10 + Classic = PITA

That's why I still have an OS9-bootable Mac...of course, YMMV
