I have Photoshop installed and get a lot of contexual menus when I right-click (command click) on items in the Finder. Any way to get rid of the CMs I don't need?

You would think that's where they are, but they aren't. I"Droplet" folders for ImageReady and PhotoShop.

Does anyone know of a way to edit what the system pops up in the contecual menu. For example, for a JPEG, it pops up a bunch of photo software but also Internet Exploder and XCode.

Thanks.

I believe you are talking about the listed applications in the "Open with" submenu of the contextual menu. If so, your question has not been precise.

Roger that...then is there any way to alter the "open with" listing to include specific items, or to explude certain items (like xCode)?

Thank for the clarification.

No, it's not possible other than trashing the apps or hacking their Info.plist (in which case you couldn't drag documents onto those app's (Dock)-icons any more and probably neither open the documents with the open dialog).

What about - instead on relying on the Open with command - dragging the documents onto the Photoshop Dock icon?

I already have a lot of stuf on my dock. I could do as you say, but I was hoping there may be an easy solution to this. Thanks for the info. I'll just have to live with it.

Throw the droplets into the trash, they are not very much use anyway. If you don't want to do that, because you think that maybe you will need in the future, make a stuffit archive out of them. That way they won't show up und "open with".

That is always the first thing I do when I install Photoshop on a machine.

This looks like a tool to manage contextual menu plug-ins. That's not what cgc wants. He was unclear about that in his initial post.

Maybe try zingg. Doesn't get rid of the original "open with", but adds an additional 'open with' that is customizable.

Assuming you don't ever use those PS droplets, just archive them in a zip file and delete the originals.

problem solved.
