My blank dvd-r's wont mount onto my desktop like they used to. Im running panther. I can burn them with toast just fine but they dont show up on desktop?? is this normal??

Open System Preferences and go to CDs & DVDs. Check what you have set for inserting a blank DVD. You probably set it to ignore by default at some point in the past.
