Ok, Here is the puzzle for the day. I have a Pocket Pc (Ipaq 3870), I have a powerbook g4 1.25 etc, I have Pocketmac to help me use the Pocket PC with my mac. I went to buy an e-book from Amazon, and while they were happy to let me pay for the item, they will not let me download it onto a MAC because my copy of Microsoft reader is not acitvated. It is (as far as I am aware) impossible to activate this using a mac.

Anyone found a way around this ?, anyone found a way to activate Microsoft Reader on mac or at least via a mac to the Pocket Pc via

The details of my equip:

Pocket Pc Ipaq 3870 (cradle connection)
Powerbook G4 1.25ghz Superdrive
Pocketmac (most recent edition)

Make My Day....

Mac not MAC, it isn't an acronym

PC not Pc, short for personal computer.

Bloody Microsoft.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Unfortunately, the activation for MS REader books requires a MS Desktop which actually does the activation, then downloads the key down to the Pocket PC.

It sucks - but so does MS Reader. Go use Palm Books instead - their reader sw is much better for both Palm AND Pocket PC.

Unfortunately, amazon doesn't let you as far as making that decision. The download page will not allow the download before verifiying your activation, and will not let you read it on anything else

You have a PocketPC and PocketMac 3? In that case there shouldn't be a problem. Share your internet connection with PocketMac and surf to amazon with IE on the PocketPC. You can download the ebook directly onto the PocketPC if you have the current software installed. You won't be able to read the file on your Mac, though.
