International keyboard switching problem on MAC OS X

Hello everybody,

I can switch between keyboard input languages (English, Russian, etc.)using the mouse on the international keyboard switcher in the top banner menu.
Is there a way to pass a keyboard event such as pressing Cmd-Space wheninput focus is on an X Windows application to the keyboard switcher in order to change input language instead of using the mouse (the Cmd-Tab works fine, it means that some keyboard events from the Cmd-[...] family can be passed)?
