Hi

does ne1 know how you can enable a service in "Sharing" but leave the firewall port disabled?

It seems like if you enable, say like web sharing, the firewall port is automatically allowed and there's no way to turn it off.

thoughts ne1? thx very much

You'd need to use another program that manipulates the built-in firewall, such as BrickHouse.

Why would you want to do this, anyway? No one would be able to connect to you, not even your other machines, unless you specifically enabled them (which would also require BrickHouse).
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

I like to enable httpd so I can use it for development but don't want others to reach it.

I guess I will have to manually remove the acl using the ipfw command then.

Thx
