Hi to all
Nearly 2 weeks ago i've ordered&inported a brand new G5 directly from USA(My location is in Istanbul/Turkey )from a well known Mac shop.The Mac prices are insane over here (Beacuse of the custom taxes etc...)If i have to buy directly from my local Apple shop i have to pay nearly 4800US$ for a brand new 2.0Ghz dual base G5 (stock 512 mb ram etc..)
It costs me nearly 3600$ with custom taxe's and shipping.
I have also ordered extra : Apple airport extreme card,1 gb Kingston Ram kit (2x512 mb Ram modules).How ever the send me the wrong rams.(They send me the G5 1.6 ghz's ram modules) hopefully i've found it before i install the ram modules.I installed the airport card and fired up my new Mac.Everythink went well,and a few cliks later i am starting to use my new Mac.Btw : I also have a Lacie external FW 400 hdd (120 gig)& PB 17 (1 ghz ,1024 mb Ram,upgraded to Panther OS .Panther 10.3.2 with out any single problem)
I directly connect my Lacie external hdd and starting to install my program's,pictures,video's,office files and all other regular files.Everythink went well again.
after that i checked my OS version it was 10.3.0 so i reconnect my Lacie and opened my Apple update files folder and installed every update for Panther&G5 as i did for my PB....updating is finished Mac wants me to restart so i restarted the Mac and i am starting to wait..finally OSX boots ,default OS gui show's up but there was a somekind of slow interface and a weird menu system starting to show up also (Upper right corner status bar starting to show only the time no airport signal status,not monitor icon,volume icon etc..whic i set up allready)i am trying to open my dvd drive and there is no responce from the drive!Also i checked the volume buttons on my keyboard and they are not responding 2.I want to check my system to see whats going on and clikked my 'System Preferences' icon and starting to wait...after a few minutes later nothing is happend..i've tryed to force quit without success.So i pushed&hold the power button and the Mac is started again...again same problems.I've read all the manuals that originally came with my Mac and a few topic's of Mac OSX problems from several Mac books nothing found...so i decided to run a hw test with my G5 sw installation dvd,i opened the superdrive by Toast Titanium's ejeckt commmand and it works..( i dont want to open it manually) after 35-40 minutes later the hw test shows 0 problems! No logic board no memory no nothing!Everythink is good.I am starting to think that what was i do wrong ?I finally decide to format and clean install the OS and every other programs.
After a few hours later i finally finished the installation of the OS and all my program's .I decided to upgrade my OS&Apple programs via sw updater .Sw updater show's all the neccessary updates for my machine&os ..i checked everythink and starting to download&install updates... half an hour later sw update is finished and wants me to restart the machine.. i crossed my fingers and restarted the machine...same think is happend..nearly no keyboard responce...a few programs are starting machine slow downs heavily again ...System prefrences is froze....a take my time and run a hw test again..no problems...i decided to do a archive&install this time...after few hours later and 3 rd OS installation same problem happend.. i gaved up and went to sleep(after 10 hours of work+10 hours of Mac os installation adventure)
Btw: There are no hack's in my computer(Like the transperent dock or anythink like that,no warez&cracked sw.Same 10.3.2 and programs runs extremly well on my pb)
There is no localisation mod's regular G5 with Q English keyboard only think i've changed is the power plug & installing the air port extreme card.
I called the Apple here in Istanbul.Told the everythink.Let me say that : Apple's tel support is great!(At least over here)They say it's common with G5's under 10.3.2 with a airport extreme networking!I said whats your recommendation's then?and they say i have to stay with the 10.3.0 untill Apple solves the problem and updates the machines with a 10.3.3 version of the Panther.(They also told me to look official Apple G5 forum topics that indicates my problems..to prove that they are right...)After half an hour chat i decided to install the 10.3.0 again.....(4 th time!) i installed it,installed the programs joined my air port extreme network @ my home ( also using a dsl modem with it).I checked the Apple forums and found : A few people haves the same headaches ...after 10.3.2 update weird thinks happend on some G5's?It's hard to bealive ...i've saw some users's of this forum is using theri G5's with 10.3.2 update.Are any of those guys running their machines with airport extreme networking?If so how?As i said before : I'am running the 10.3.2 with my PB with out a single problem!Under the same network same programs etc...i'am freeshly out of ideas..is this a 64 bit cpu problem that show it's face under the 10.3.2 with a.port extreme network?I'am not brave enough to install the os again
Sorry for the long post but i have to went a little bit.Everythink works fine under the 10.3.0.
