The seed is labeled build 7F32 and is Apple's second widespread seed of the Panther update. In a seed note, Apple provided a brief list of "major areas of change." The list of updated components included Core OS, Carbon, Cocoa, Printing, USB, Graphics and Imaging, and High Level Toolbox. Apple also recommended that developers focus their testing efforts on FireWire, USB, audio/sound, and graphics, including OpenGL games.
Think secret has it
I hope they get OpenGL games running smoothly... Every openGL game I have is incredibly unstable.

Ah yes. I read this this morning on thinksecret. I'd imagine 10.3.3 is very close to release.

Well I installed it and it stuck at Login window starting up. This is the first developer build to not work for me in over a year. So I am reinstalling 10.3 all over again and will try again.

There seems to be a whole host of new problems with Firewire and Panther. It's really bugging me just now, cause when I try to copy stuff to an ext. firewire drive, my machine just stutters, iTunes skips, etc. I've read here, and over in ArsTechnica with people who have similar issues, and it seems to cover varying devices, the connection being the firewire bus and Panther.

I reinstalled 10.3 and then installed Java 1.4.2, applied the 10.3.3 update and it worked this time. Don't know what the problem was before. Now I have to go get PithHelmet, because the freakin' animated GIFs put the system to a crawl.

I hope networking gets a thourough polishing. Lately, I haven't been able to copy files from one Mac to another via the Network icon in the Finder. Drag files to another machine's volume, and nothing happens.
Then there are the occasions when I simply can't see certain volumes on a networked machine.
And then there's the disappearing iDisk when I'm working remotely at Starbucks, but don't log into their Hotspot net (ie, if Panther sees a wireless connection, but you don't actually log into it, it starts to lose iDisk contents). You have to turn off Airport to prevent it from happening.
In other words, lots of stuff to fix...

Yes, but it failed on my MDD 867 in the same way as my cube at work. But they were both updated from 10.3.3, the version that was pulled. I thought the other was a fluke, but 2 for 2 is the score. Hangs at Login window starting.

Your point is what? It was a valid upgrade from the previous developer release. A combo updater from 10.3.

You updated from 10.3.3 7F24 to 10.3.3 7F32 and expected everything to run smoothly?
Smooth upgrades are expected between public releases but expecting it to work between dev builds is a tad much, IMO. Anyways...
You might as well comment about the new 10.3.3 changes now that you've broken the NDA...assuming you were under NDA.

I didn't comment about the changes. I never stated what I expected, only what I experienced. I digress...

Yeah, the Oxford 911 problem is minor now compared to what has been going on with other users. Try using a computer that freaks out whenever there is access to an external FireWire drive (mouse jumps everywhere, audio skips or slows down and sounds like shyte!) Come on 10.3.3!!!!

Well, I wouldn't call data corruption and loss a less significant issue than the one we're experiencing now. Nonetheless, the current Firewire pointer gittering bug is quite bothersome. I don't rely on Firewire, but certainly many do for their daily work. It's the primary high speed connection method, and it needs to function properly.

So does mine, as well as networking to SMB and AFP servers, so does FireWire, Printer Sharing work fine with 10.3.2. However, just because it works for you, doesn't mean there isn't a problem for someone else.

I have a peculiar firewire problem too. When I have my Western Digital Drive plugged in I cannot use Installer. It will not go past the continue button on the user agreement section. Also, I cannot launch Disk Utility. It loads and then right before it is done there is an error message that reads Disk Utility loaded properly but cannot continue. (or something strange like that) If it loaded properly there would not be an error message!
Anyway, I have a Maxtor firewire drive that does not have these issues. It must have something to do with the Firmware version or chipset in the drive. Oh Yea, Sytem Profiler doesn't work either.
I have to restart without the offending drive to reset things back to normal.
It took me a while to figure this issue out. I reformatted the internal drive and reinstalled everything, just to get the same problem again.

This is the one thing that windows xp does great. Much easier IMHO than opening a program or busting out the terminal to upload 20+ items... Especially when they are large images.

I read it as "new build [10.3.3] of a minor point release [10.3]."
After reading it again, I see that he could have been referring to the new build 7F32 of the bug fix release 10.3.3, but I read it that way because to my understanding 7F32 was the first build of 10.3.3 that's been leaked, so what this thread is about is information about 10.3.3. And also because I'm just really sick of hearing people refer to Panther (or Jaguar before it) as a 'minor point release'.

But did you initialize your Western Digital Firewire drive? That fixes some Firewire problems for some people. I'd say use Disk Utility's "zero all data" option, since on rare occasion, much to my surprise, I've had to use that option to fix drives that just wouldn't work right when I simply erased/initialized them without this option, either under OS 9 or OS X.
Other things that fix a lot of Firewire problems:
„ Disconnect the Western Digital Firewire drive, then reset the Mac's PRAM/NVRAM (do a Command-Option-P-R from powerup, not just from restart). Sometimes, if you leave a Firewire device connected when you reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Open Firmware, it prevents the scrambled settings from being reset.
„ Reset Open Firmware (at powerup, before the screen lights, hold down Command-Option-O-F until the Open Firmware screen appears, then enter:
set-defaults
reset-all
„ Press the logic board's reset button
„ If your Western Digital Firewire drive has the ability to be powered from its own power adapter, rather than the Firewire bus, try the power adapter
„ If you haven't repaired the permissions on all the volumes that contain an installation of OS X, try it and see what happens. Some people find this fixes Firewire problems when files associated with Firewire don't have the right permissions. While you're at it, repair all volume's directories.
„ A flaky RAM board could be causing trouble for one drive, but not another. Remove all but one RAM board and see what happens.

This is the second leaked build. The first one was pulled due to a critical issue with 20" iMacs.

What do you mean leaked build? It's a developer release available for download to select and premium subscribers.

ever since updating to 10.3 I've had this problme where when I first login, the screen is perfectly stable... but after a while of usage-- especially when loading pages with Flash, I think, the screen starts to flicker-- literally kind of jumping, as if there were a loose wire or something in the LCD. So it seems like a hardware probelm right? But if I log out and log back in, it's gone again.
In fact, I can make the screen "jump" just by loading certain flash pages. For example, loading http://www.nytimes.com/packages/khtm...S_FEATURE.html makes the screen "jitter" every time it loads the cache with new media.
No clue what it is, but here's to hoping 10.3.3 fixes it.
(Tibook 667 btw.. 10.3.2)
