anyone have any links to tutorials or "how-to's" on creating OS X icons?

Look in the help forums.

I'm doing this from memory, but I think all you have to do is find the icon you want. copy it, then go to one you want to replace. Do a "get info" on it. highlight the icon in the "get info" box and paste the new one on top of it. Voila! New icon.

But -- check "help" under "icons," first. You could do a search, too.

thanks guys for the links and the replies..and yes I was referring to creating icons, not customizing them....

Personally, my favorite combination is Photoshop with Export Icon and IconBuilder, both of which are Photoshop plugins. This allows you to use Photoshop to actually create the icon, and then simply export it.
