I'm using my bluetooth keyboard to write this because the keyboard on my powerbook 12" no longer has its keys mapped correctly. Most of the command keys work, and some of the number keys work, but none of the letters work - and some letters produce numbers (ie hitting "i" gives me a "5"). I repaired permissions on disc to avail, and I can't boot into single user mode because it doesn't recognize "s" and the bluetooth keyboard isn't initialized at that point.
This is not fun.... and a major problem.
Any ideas on how to repair, or at least where they keymaps are stored? I don't know how it started... I was using iTunes and command-H to hide didnt' work. Then I realized that the keys simply didn't show up...
please help,
Rand
btw I tried to search for previous posts, but macnn timed out...

Sounds like a hardware defect. If you didn't spill any coffee over lately did you check the keyboard connector?

Not a hardware defect. You accidentally turned on Num Lock. Just tap the F6 key to turn it off and all will be well.

You may have picked an International keyboard layout as well...
System Preferences > International > Input Menu
Make sure the "U.S" is the only option checked there.

Hehe.
That said, on all Apple laptops with the "integrated numeric keypad" function, the numbers are clearly marked on the keys in smaller numbers.
