I create most of my work on a G4 dual 1Ghz running 10.3.2, and I need to send my customers large e-mail attachments, so I transfer them over an Airport network to a PowerBook G4 where I do all my e-mailing. The TiBook is running 10.2.8, and I set up the Drop Box in the Public folder for read/write access at all levels.
I drag files over to the Drop Box icon and they pop up almost instantly, but instead of being read/writeable, they are sometimes locked and sometimes only readable, but not writeable.
The files are not locked or restricted in any way when I copy them to the Drop Box, but somehow they pick up restrictions, even though the Drop Box folder, and the Public Folder that encloses it, both have read/write permissions in all three boxes.
Am I missing some trick? Or is there some way to circumvent the permissions, since I am the only person who uses these Macs?
