Hello all,

We just got a Lexmark X1150 printer. However, we're having some trouble getting it installed on Panther. It seems to recognize the printer, but in "Print & Fax" it says that the "driver is not installed." It then gives me a pop up that says "new driver found, would you like to refresh the browser?" I'm not sure what this means, but when I click "Ok" nothing happens.

I just have no clue what to do. I've installed using the CD, and still no luck. I'm going to the website to download the driver from there. If anyone has had this experience or any idea what to do, please let me know.

Thanks!

Chris

Printing Problems in Panther
Several other users have reported that after they updated to Panther from Jaguar that they could no longer print to their printer. Hewlett-Packard printers seem to have been especially hit by this problem. Several solutions have been proposed. It may be necessary to use them together to fix your printing problem.

1. Delete the setup for your printer and then reinstall your printer's drivers. Delete the printer from Printer Setup Utility. Restart. Add your printer.
2. Delete the drivers that come with Mac OS X 10.3 and install the drivers available on the Web site of the printer's manufacturer.
3. Delete all of the "com.apple.Print.(...).plist" files from your ~/Library/Preferences folder.

In more detail ...

Deleting and Re-adding Printer
1) Disconnect printer, turn it off.
2) Run "Printer Setup Utility" from "Applications -> Utilities"
3) Highlight the printer and remove it
4) Quit "Printer Setup Utility". Restart
computer
5) Connect USB and power on the printer. Wait a little. Open "Printer Setup Utility" again, highlight the printer you wish to print from
6) Select this printer as "default" by clicking on the corresponding icon on top of this window.
7) Try again to print

If this fails ....

1. Delete the drivers that come with Mac OS X 10.3 and install the drivers available on the Web site of the printer's manufacturer.

2. Delete the printer from Printer Setup Utility. Turn Off Printer and disconnect. Restart Computer. Connect Printer.Turn on Printer. Add your printer in Printer Setup.
