When you want your Mac to say the time to you, it says for instance "It's ten hours".
Shouldn't that be something like "It's ten o'clock", or even "It's ten a.m." when you use 12-hour clock?
Or is this another American English - British English - etc. English thing in OS X?

For someone living in the Netherlands, "It's ten hours" would be the correct way to say it (24 hour clock). If you have UK settings, it's still the correct way to say it *if* you are using a 24 hour clock (which is the default - I think... maybe it's because I'm using a network clock that mine is 24 hour). If you have it set to use am/pm, then it would be wrong.

Yeah, mine also says "it's ten o'clock." Check your Date and Time preferences.

Funny, when I turn "Use a 24-hour clock" off, the Mac indeed says "o'clock" instead of "hours".

It all comes from the 24-hour format being referred to as "military time." You know, "Reveille is at oh six hundred hours."
Having your machine say "It's 23 o'clock" would sound weird, don't you think?

My speakable items are the scripts that react when I speak, I didn't mean that.
