Yeah, that happened to me too. I had my Powerbook hooked up to an external monitor, then I think ti was after some update, the boot up screen was huge, whereas before it had the right resolution. I thought it might have been me uppign the screen rez, but not so sure anymore.

Strange.

What does it matter?
Mine is always huge, then switches to the normal size.

Try zapping the PRAM (Command-Option-P-R at startup).

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

tried that, and also did the open firmware resets, still nothing. It doesn't really bother me, but I'm more curious than anything.

Did you ever log in as root? The boot screen should appear at the resolution that was selected by root. If you have ever been root and know how to log in as root, do so, and change the resolution there. If you have never been root, then try the same thing as an admin user.

Whenever I do anything crazy (like change the clock speed of the vram or gpu on my graphics card, or even plug into a different monitor), this happens to my mdd as well. It's just a "failsafe" sort of thing. My mac knows that most/all monitors support 640x480@60hz...so it starts with that.

Video problems aren't often solved by zapping PRAM, it's most often the NVRAM that needs to be flashed.
