is it possible to use a pc laptop in target disk mode, specifically a sony vaio laptop?

PCs don't have this target disk mode, so the answer is no.

Well, the reason i ask is because i want my mac to think that my pc laptop is just another pc formatted external hard drive. There's no way to do that???

You could take the Vaio hard drive out, place it into an external firewire enclosure, and use it as a firewire drive. I did that for an old Powerbook HD, works fine.

The other wya is to just network the Vaio to the Mac.

No other way than to take it out and connect it directly to your Mac's internal IDE bus or like Vpro7 said an external Firewire (or USB) enclosure, or networking (which might be the most desirable way).
