Can you move your home folder to a different drive?

Since in moving it your home directory would no longer be encrypted, why don't you just turn off encryption? Then you'd be able to back it up as you wanted.

That's exaclty what I've done, in fact. BUT... I feel that's a half-ass answer to what I need (No, I'm not calling *you* a half-ass )
I still have files that I need security for and I'm looking for either a way to move the home directlroy or a backup solution to work with the encryption. Really I'm looking for BOTH...

Just copy the whole thing over (may want to do it with cp -r from terminal... be careful with permissions!) and then create a symbolic link from the original location (on internal HD) to the other directory. Works great when you're workign with multiple OS versions (e.g. dual boot).

Do you know if that will keep encryption on the home directory?
