I have had a number of kernel panics yesterday and now most of my app.s will not open. I get this message:

The application "Stuffit Expander" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "8<Stuffit Expander><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_SpeechSynthesis><>"

The same comes with Entourage- Photoshop etc.

Sounds like perhaps a framework got corrupted.

Try with a new account to eliminate preference settings. If that doesn't work, you probably need to reinstall the OS.

Hi

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday.
My Home directory was eliminated as the culprit by creating a Test account.
AppleCare phone support suggested an Archive & Install. This did the trick!
I don't know what happened or why it happened.
I just know that it's fixed now.
